Race to Fifty

Indoor games
  • 6–11 years
  • 20 min
  • at home

Roll a die again and again to build up points, but a single one wipes the whole turn out. Every roll is a small bet: carry on, or stop and keep what you have.

What you need

  • One die from any board game
  • Paper
  • A pencil

How to play

  1. Write both names at the top of the paper as two columns.
  2. Roll the die, add the number to your turn total and decide whether to roll again.
  3. Stop whenever you like and write the turn total into your column.
  4. Lose the whole turn total if you roll a one, then pass the die on.
  5. Add your column up out loud after every turn.
  6. Play until somebody passes fifty.
