How Deep Is This Puddle?
Before you jump in, guess the depth, then check it with a stick. Fifteen minutes of measuring, splashing and comparing, and boots that were made for exactly this.
What you need
- Rubber boots
- A straight stick
- Chalk (optional)
How to play
- Put boots on and go out after the rain to find three puddles in the yard, never a ditch or a pond.
- Guess out loud how deep the first one is before touching the water.
- Dip the stick in until it hits the bottom and mark the wet line with your thumb.
- Compare the sticks from all three puddles and decide which puddle won.
- Jump into the shallowest one and see how far the splash reaches.
- Come back on the first dry day and look at what is left of the puddles.
