Rainbow From Red Cabbage
Purple cabbage water takes a different colour in every cup: pink with lemon, blue with soap, green with soda. The kitchen turns into a row of colour tests.
What you need
- A few red cabbage leaves
- Hot water (poured by an adult)
- Jug and clear glasses
- Lemon or vinegar
- Baking soda
- Liquid soap
- Spoon
How to play
- Tear the cabbage leaves and drop them into the jug.
- Pour hot water over them yourself, as this step is for the adult, and let it stand until it is purple and cool.
- Share the purple water between four clear glasses.
- Stir lemon juice into the first glass and vinegar into the second.
- Add baking soda to the third and a drop of liquid soap to the fourth.
- Line the glasses up from pink to green and let your child mix new shades.
