Your Heart Before and After

Two fingers on the wrist and a watch turn the heart into something you can count. Your child sees the number jump after a minute of jumping and slowly settle back down.

What you need

  • Watch or phone showing seconds
  • Paper and pencil

How to play

  1. Sit quietly together for one minute.
  2. Show your child how to press two fingers on the wrist below the thumb.
  3. Count the beats for fifteen seconds and write the number down.
  4. Jump, run on the spot or dance for one minute.
  5. Count the beats again straight away and compare the two numbers.
  6. Sit still and count once a minute until the heart is calm again.
