Who Lives Here?
A hole in the ground, a hollow in a trunk, a nest in the branches and a whole damp city under one log. Nothing is taken and nothing is touched — you only work out who the neighbours are.
What you need
- A park, a forest edge or a big yard
- A stick for pointing
- Nothing else
How to play
- Choose a short strip of park or forest edge and walk it very slowly.
- Look for holes in the ground, hollows in trunks and nests up in the branches.
- Watch an ant hill for one minute and count how many ants come and go, without touching it.
- Tip up a fallen log, look at the damp world underneath and lay the log back exactly as it was.
- Guess out loud who lives in each home and what they eat.
- Point out one home to take a grown-up back to tomorrow.
