Paper Clue Trail

Indoor games
  • 7–12 years
  • 40 min
  • at home

Six written clues lead from one hiding place to the next and end at a biscuit in the back of a cupboard. Writing the trail is half the fun, and the child usually wants to write the next one.

What you need

  • A sheet of paper cut into slips
  • A pen
  • A small treat from the cupboard

How to play

  1. Choose the final hiding place first — a biscuit in a mug at the back of a cupboard.
  2. Work backwards and write six clues, each describing where the next one waits.
  3. Turn the clues into riddles or rhymes for older children.
  4. Put every clue in its spot and keep the first one in your pocket.
  5. Hand over the first clue and let the hunt run without any hints.
  6. Let your child write the next trail for you and follow it yourself.
