Cushions and folded towels become safe islands while the carpet turns into bubbling lava. Your child plans a route across the room and crosses it without touching the ground.
What you need
- Sofa cushions
- Towels or small blankets
- A clock or phone timer
How to play
- Spread the cushions and folded towels across the floor, about one big step apart.
- Explain the rule: the floor is hot lava, only the islands are safe.
- Let your child cross from the door to the sofa without touching the carpet.
- Take one island away each round and check whether the route still works.
- Time a crossing and try to beat the record together.
