Salt Dough Imprint Tiles
Flour, salt and water make a dough that holds any imprint you press into it and then dries hard as a stone. A palm print from a three-year-old is worth keeping for twenty years.
What you need
- 2 cups of flour
- 1 cup of salt
- About 1 cup of water
- A bottle to roll with
- A glass
- Small objects: keys, buttons, a toy car
- A baking tray
How to play
- Mix two cups of flour with one cup of salt, then add water until the dough stops sticking to your hands.
- Roll the dough out on the table with a bottle, about as thick as a finger.
- Cut round tiles by pressing the rim of a glass into the dough.
- Press a palm, a key, a button or a toy car wheel deep into each tile.
- An adult bakes the tiles in a low oven for two hours, or leave them on the windowsill for two days.
- Paint the tiles once they are completely cool and dry.
