Old magazines become an animal that has never existed: a bird's eye, a car wheel for a belly, a spoon for a leg. The pile of paper by the door is finally useful.

What you need

  • Old magazines or catalogues
  • Safe scissors
  • Tape
  • A sheet of paper
  • A pencil

How to play

  1. Tear out any pages with big, colourful pictures.
  2. Let your child cut out whatever they like: eyes, wheels, flowers, shoes.
  3. Lay the pieces on the paper and slide them around until a creature appears.
  4. Tape the pieces down one at a time, starting with the body.
  5. Draw the missing parts with a pencil — legs, whiskers, a tail.
  6. Give the creature a name and decide where it lives.
