Shadow Tag
On a sunny day you do not have to touch anyone to tag them — stepping on their shadow is enough. Suddenly running along a wall or under a tree becomes a clever move.
What you need
- A sunny day
- An open yard or a path
- Chalk (optional)
- Hats — the game needs the sun high, and so does sunburn
How to play
- Wait for a sunny hour and find an open space where shadows fall long.
- Explain the only rule: you tag by stepping on the other person's shadow, never by touching.
- Count to five and let your child run first while you chase the shadow.
- Swap roles as soon as a shadow has been stepped on.
- Play one round where a shadow may be hidden in the shade of a tree or a wall.
- Finish by chalking around each other's shadow and looking at how far it has moved.
