Ten Photos on the Way

Write ten words before you leave — something round, something older than you, a hidden face — and hand over the camera. The route you have walked a hundred times stops looking familiar.

What you need

  • A phone or an old camera
  • A scrap of paper and a pen
  • Your usual route

How to play

  1. Write ten words together before you leave: something round, something older than you, a hidden face, a repeated pattern.
  2. Hand over the phone and agree that only your child takes the pictures.
  3. Photograph things and places, never people you do not know.
  4. Walk the usual route and stop whenever someone spots a match.
  5. Argue it out properly when one photo could fit two words.
  6. Take the last photo of something nobody could have predicted.
  7. Look through all ten at home and pick the one that says the most.
