The Straw That Holds Water
One finger on top of a straw and the water inside simply refuses to fall out. Your child becomes a pipette and carries a whole cup across the table drop by drop.
What you need
- Drinking straw
- Two cups
- Water
- A tray
How to play
- Fill one cup with water and stand the empty one next to it on the tray.
- Dip the straw in and let it fill with water.
- Press one finger firmly over the top of the straw and lift it out.
- Hold the straw over the empty cup and lift your finger so the water drops.
- Move all the water across, one strawful at a time, counting as you go.
- Try it once without the finger on top and talk about what the air was doing.
