Whisk Against Fork
Two bowls of the same cream, one fork, one whisk and a timer. Your child finds out which tool wins and stops the cream just before it turns into butter.
What you need
- Cold cream, 33% or more
- A fork
- A hand whisk
- Two identical bowls
- A timer or a phone clock
- Berries
How to play
- Pour the same amount of cold cream into each of the two bowls.
- Give your child the fork in one bowl and take the whisk in the other, or race a brother or sister.
- Start the timer and beat as fast as you can for one minute without lifting the bowls.
- Stop and lift both tools to see which cream holds a soft peak and which slides straight off.
- Swap tools and try again, guessing beforehand what will happen this time.
- Stop whisking as soon as it holds its shape — a minute more and it turns to butter.
- Spoon the whipped cream over berries and eat the results of the race.
