Turn Milk Into Fresh Curd
A splash of lemon juice splits warm milk into white flakes and greenish whey in under a minute. Ten minutes later there is curd cheese for breakfast.
What you need
- One litre of milk
- Half a lemon
- A pan
- A sieve
- A clean cotton cloth
- A bowl
- Bread and honey
How to play
- Pour the milk into a pan and heat it yourself until it steams gently.
- Let your child squeeze the lemon and pour the juice in while you stir.
- Watch together as white flakes appear and the liquid around them turns yellow-green.
- Take the pan off the heat yourself and let it stand for ten minutes.
- Line the sieve with the cloth over a bowl and pour the mixture through it yourself.
- Once it has cooled, let your child gather the cloth and squeeze the curd gently.
- Spread the fresh curd on bread with honey and taste the whey left in the bowl.
