A box lid, cardboard strips and tape make a board the marble has to cross without falling into a hole. The difficulty is adjusted while you play.

What you need

  • A box lid or a shallow box
  • Cardboard from another box
  • Safe scissors
  • Tape
  • A marble or a small ball

How to play

  1. Cut strips of cardboard about as tall as your thumb.
  2. Tape the strips inside the lid as walls, leaving gaps to drive through.
  3. Cut two or three holes in the base as traps.
  4. Mark the start and the finish with a pencil.
  5. Drop the marble in and tilt the lid to steer it along the corridors.
  6. Move the walls until the maze is hard but still possible.
  7. Time each other and write the record on the side of the box.
