Mobile of Forest Treasures
Everything brought back from the walk — cones, a feather, a dry stem — hangs from a stick on strings of different lengths. The interesting part begins when the whole thing has to balance.
What you need
- A straight stick
- String or thread
- Finds from a walk
- Tape
- Safe scissors
How to play
- Spread the finds on the table and pick the six lightest ones.
- Cut six pieces of string of clearly different lengths.
- Tie or tape one find to the end of each string.
- Knot the strings along the stick, with the heavier finds nearer the middle.
- Rest the stick on one finger and slide the knots until it hangs level.
- Hang the mobile by a window where the draught will turn it.
