Finish the Other Half

Arts & crafts

One of you draws half a butterfly, a robot or a teapot against the fold, and the other has to build its mirror image. Folding the paper afterwards shows exactly how close you got.

What you need

  • Sheets of paper
  • A pencil
  • An eraser
  • A ruler if you want one

How to play

  1. Fold a sheet down the middle and open it flat again.
  2. Draw half of a butterfly, a robot or a teapot pressed right against the fold.
  3. Ask your child to build the missing half so both sides match.
  4. Fold the paper and hold it up to the window to see how well the halves line up.
  5. Swap over: your child draws the half and you have to copy it.
