Make an Egg Float
An egg sinks in plain water and rises in salty water. Spoon by spoon your child hunts for the exact moment it lifts off the bottom.
What you need
- Tall glass or jar
- Water
- Raw egg
- Salt
- Spoon
How to play
- Fill the glass two thirds with water and lower the egg in gently.
- Ask your child to guess what would make the egg come up.
- Take the egg out, stir in one spoonful of salt, and put the egg back.
- Repeat spoon by spoon, counting out loud, until the egg hovers or floats.
- Very slowly pour a little plain water on top and watch the egg rest between two layers.
