Oats, honey and cocoa kneaded by hand and rolled into little balls. No oven and no knives, and a sweet snack is ready in half an hour.

What you need

  • Rolled oats
  • Honey or jam
  • Cocoa powder
  • Raisins
  • Softened butter
  • A big bowl
  • Coconut flakes or extra cocoa for coating

How to play

  1. Tip the oats, cocoa and raisins into a big bowl and let your child stir it all together.
  2. Add the soft butter and honey and knead with clean hands until the mixture holds its shape.
  3. If it crumbles, add a spoonful of honey; if it sticks, add more oats.
  4. Let your child roll walnut-sized balls between their palms.
  5. Coat each ball in coconut flakes or cocoa on a small plate.
  6. Put the balls in the fridge for fifteen minutes while you tidy the table, then taste them together.
