Paper Ring Garland

Strips of paper, a loop of tape, and the chain grows until it crosses the whole room. A three-year-old can hold each ring while you tape it, and the links are easy to count along the way.

What you need

  • Old paper or magazine pages
  • Safe scissors
  • Tape or a glue stick

How to play

  1. Cut the paper into strips about two fingers wide — for younger children the adult cuts.
  2. Tape the ends of one strip together to make a ring.
  3. Thread the next strip through that ring and tape it closed too.
  4. Keep adding rings and let your child decide the order of the colours.
  5. Hang the finished chain across a doorway or along a shelf.
