Woodland Figures From Cones
A cone is a ready-made body: paper ears, twig arms and a wool scarf all hold between the scales. Half an hour later a whole forest family is standing on the table.
What you need
- Spruce or pine cones
- Wool
- Paper offcuts
- Glue or tape
- Thin twigs
- Felt-tip pens
How to play
- Dry the cones on the radiator for an hour so the scales open up.
- Choose a cone for the body and decide which end is the head.
- Cut ears, wings or a beak from paper and glue them between the scales.
- Wind wool round the middle and tie the scarf at the back.
- Push twigs between the scales for arms and legs.
- Build the figures a home out of a box lid and some moss.
