A Landscape on Rye Bread
One slice of rye bread becomes a small country: a carrot sun, dill forests, cucumber hills. Your child paints with food and then tells the story of the place.
What you need
- Rye bread
- Curd cheese, cream cheese or butter
- Carrot
- Cucumber
- Dill
- Bell pepper or tomato
- A spoon
How to play
- Cut the vegetables into rounds, strips and thin sticks yourself — the knife stays with the adult.
- Let your child cover a slice of rye bread with soft cheese, right to the edges.
- Decide together what the landscape will be: a forest, the seaside, a mountain valley.
- Build the ground first with cucumber strips, then add trees from dill and a sun from a carrot round.
- Add one small hidden detail — a path, a boat, an animal.
- Let your child tell you what happens in this place before you eat it.
