A Room in a Shoebox
A shoebox on its side becomes a one-room flat for a small toy: a matchbox bed, a bottle-cap bowl and a rug cut from an old sock. Every piece is sized by holding it up against the resident.
What you need
- A shoebox
- A small toy figure
- Matchboxes and bottle caps
- Fabric scraps
- Tape and scissors
How to play
- Lay the shoebox on its side so the opening becomes the front of the room.
- Stand the toy inside and mark on the wall how tall the furniture may be.
- Build a bed out of matchboxes and a table out of a bottle cap.
- Cut a rug from a fabric scrap and tape a paper window to the back wall.
- Add one thing the resident needs but has not got yet.
- Stack a second shoebox on top as an upstairs room.
