A Family of Sock Puppets
A sock with no pair goes over a hand and immediately has a mouth. Add eyes and hair and the back of the sofa turns into a theatre.
What you need
- Socks that have lost their pairs
- Paper circles or buttons
- Wool
- Tape, or a needle and thread for the adult
- Markers
How to play
- Dig out the socks in the cupboard that have lost their pairs.
- Pull a sock over your child's hand and find where the mouth folds.
- Stick or sew two paper circles above the fold for eyes — the sewing is the adult's job.
- Tape strands of wool along the top for hair.
- Draw a nose and some freckles with a marker.
- Put on a show behind the back of the sofa and let the puppets argue about dinner.
