Ice Discs on a Branch
Freeze water in flat dishes with leaves, berries and a loop of string inside, then hang the discs on a bare branch. They glow when the sun catches them and last exactly as long as the frost does.
What you need
- Flat dishes or plastic lids
- Water
- String or thread
- Berries, leaves, cones and seeds
How to play
- Lay a loop of string into each dish so that both ends hang over the edge.
- Arrange berries, small leaves and seeds across the bottom of the dish.
- Pour in cold water to the depth of a finger and carry the dishes outside on a frosty evening.
- Leave them overnight somewhere nobody will step on them.
- Push each frozen disc out of its dish in the morning and hang it on a bare branch by the string.
- Come back at midday and see which discs the sun has begun to hollow out.
