The Spinning Colour Top
A cardboard disc painted in six bright colours turns pale grey the moment it spins fast enough. Your child mixes colours without touching a single drop of paint.
What you need
- Cardboard from a box
- Felt pens or coloured pencils
- Two short pencils
- Scissors for the adult
- A jar lid to draw around
How to play
- Ask an adult to cut two cardboard circles using a jar lid as a guide.
- Divide the first circle into six slices with pencil lines.
- Colour the slices red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple.
- Push a short pencil through the middle so it sticks out below like a leg.
- Spin the top hard and watch the colours drain away into pale grey.
- Colour the second circle in only two colours and find out what those two mix into.
