Painting by Pulling a String
A painted string laid inside a folded sheet and yanked out makes a feathery mirrored pattern that nobody can plan. Every pull is different, so you will want to do six.
What you need
- String or thick thread about an arm long
- Paints you already have
- A saucer
- Sheets of paper
How to play
- Fold a sheet of paper in half and open it flat again.
- Dip the string into the paint, keeping one end dry to hold on to.
- Lay the painted string in loops on one half of the paper, with the dry end sticking out.
- Fold the other half over and press it down firmly with your palm.
- Pull the string out sideways while the paper stays pressed down.
- Open the sheet and decide together what the pattern looks like.
